Meet MRS. Aguilar!
"The Best Things in Life are the People We Love, the Places We've Been, and the Memories We Made Along the Way"
- Unknown
I was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. I graduated from James Pace High School in 2005, and I received a Bachelor's degree in Government with a Minor Program of Study in History from the University of Texas at Brownsville & Texas Southmost College in 2010. I plan to pursue a Master's degree in the very near future.
I like reading, dancing, going to the beach, and road trips. I love listening to many different varieties of music like Taylor Swift, The Goo Goo Dolls, Muse, and Selena. My favorite colors are pink, purple, and light blue. Some of my favorite things are the Harry Potter and The Hunger Games series' (books and movies), The Big Bang Theory, Goldfish crackers and movie theater popcorn. I am currently obsessed with the musical Hamilton (history & hip-hop- what's not to LOVE?).
Growing up, I was always taught the value of a good education. In fact, I come from a family of educators- both of my parents and many of my aunts and uncles are teachers. One of my uncles even worked in NASA's Education department! One of my favorite memories growing up was reading the World History book my dad used to teach his classes- I use to read it like how some kids read comic books! I loved reading about kings and queens who shaped their country, artists and playwrights that defined culture, and philosophers and scientists who changed learning. I especially loved reading about the Victorian period in England, the Ancien Regime of France, and pretty much everything in Russian history. As I grew up, I wondered how political figures came to make the decisions that changed the course of history- and how different would things be if they had made different choices? This curiosity directly led to what I decided to study in school, and it led to me becoming a teacher.

Even though I have completed my education, I don't think that anybody ever really stops learning. There are new discoveries made every day- a new page added to the history books! I was very lucky to have teachers that inspired me to love learning and to constantly look at things in a different way, and that's what I hope to be for you. I am here to help you discover what it is that inspires YOU. When all is said and done, what will the pages of your story say?
